Go Green with Solvent Recovery System
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 8:33Yesterday I met Jacob; he’s one of my friends who become an activist of Green Organization. We discuss a lot of issue regarding being “Green”. He told me to being Green; the first step that we personally can do is to get used to for ourselves to do the action of becoming green. Because from the action that we took, it will automatically affect to other people around us, like our family, friends, etc. The example small action that we can do are reduced the used of plastic bag and change it by using paper bag, planting a tree around the house, and many more.
And then, I asked him that is it possible also for the company or industrial can also being Green? In my opinion, if the company wants to get Green profile, they have to spend some extra cost on it, and in this kind economic situation, I think it’s not wise for the company or industrial to spend any cost for it. He’s laughing, and then he explained to me about waste recovery system. Basically waste recovery system is a system on how to process from waste thing becoming useful thing.
In many industrial areas, there’s a lot of waste solvent produced every minutes, and it must be disposed properly, otherwise EPA and other government agencies likes his organization will not let the industrial just pour the waste solvent into the drain, which can pollute the water and ground. By considering it, they are now tried to implement solvent recovery system using the right equipment, which it will greatly reduce the volume of hazardous waste generated on site, resulting in lower EPA compliance costs and less regulatory paperwork to complete.
The benefits of implementing solvent recovery are
1. Cost can be reducing on solvent purchasing. Because solvent is no longer disposed of in mass quantities after one use, less needs to be purchased.
2. There is also a reduce cost on the waste solvent disposal. Lots of people don’t realize that solvent recovery can reduce waste disposal costs by upwards of 95%.
3. Community good will and maintaining a profile of corporate responsibility are better assured. Between government regulations, public stakeholder intrusion, and other exterior forces, your business is under a lot of scrutiny. It does not operate in a vacuum. Improving your relationship with your neighbors gives your company a better reputation.
The time goes by and it’s night already. We ended our discussion and I directly went back home. All of the discussion makes me have a better understanding about being green and how it can be apply in personal or in company. Thank Jacob for the sharing; wish we have another time to continue on.
